2023 YOUTH EFFECT INTERNATIONAL TRIP

Three days before we arrived to Thailand there was a recent airstrike bombing  in one of the Burmese refugee camps. (one of many airstrikes attacks this year.)

This camp was located in the rainforest on the Burma side of the border when the attack happened. One of the schools we had planned to help this year was bombed and destroyed. Everyone in the camp had to flee to a new location, as shown in this video.

Given the current circumstances, our team shifted from our original mission of providing school supplies and hygiene products to prioritizing access to crucial medical supplies, food, and clean water.

The ongoing conflict in Burma has forced many families to flee their native land to these refugee camps on the border of Thailand. And there are almost a dozen refugee camps now located on the border. The journey to these camps for some took five days and for others might take up to 10 days or more traveling on foot. The things they have to go through are unimaginable, especially for the children born in this environment.

These are the native people of Burma. Their land and resources are being stolen. They are farmers and all they want to do is live in peace.

Please don’t forget about the Karen/Karenni ethnic groups.🙏

Here’s what we were able to provide:

  • 1600 sanitary pads
  • Food and supplies for 500 families
  • 4 generators
  • Funding for medical supplies
  • Teacher training and materials for 26          refugee teachers and classrooms

Thank you so much to everyone who supported this trip, because of your support we were able to provide vital support to multiple refugee camps on the border of Thailand and Burma
